Preserve the Mansion building in Kingston as a historical site

Preserve the Mansion building in Kingston as a historical site
The Issue
Growing up in Kingston, Ontario, I have always been surrounded by the thriving local music scene that has become a vital part of our community's cultural fabric. However, this vibrant scene is at risk as music venues are rapidly disappearing, leaving artists with fewer spaces to share their talents and music lovers with diminished opportunities to enjoy live performances.
The Mansion building, located in Kingston, stands as a testament to our rich musical history. Not only has it hosted countless local musicians, providing them with a platform to showcase their talents, but it has also been a gathering place for music enthusiasts to come together and celebrate their shared love for artistry. The Mansion is more than just a building; it embodies the spirit of Kingston's cultural heritage. It was also once owned by the Ghost Buster Dan Ackroyd himself
Despite its significance, the future of the Mansion building is uncertain. Without intervention, it could be lost forever to demolition, erasing a piece of Kingston's musical soul. We cannot let this happen. It is imperative that we act now to preserve this historical site for future generations.
Designating the Mansion as a historical site would ensure its protection and continued use as a venue for local music. This designation would not only safeguard a part of our city's identity but also revitalize the local arts scene by providing a dedicated space for musicians to perform and audiences to gather.
To support our effort, we have gathered evidence demonstrating the Mansion's cultural and historical significance, and its impact on the local music scene. We call upon the city council and concerned citizens to join us in our mission to preserve one of Kingston’s most cherished landmarks.
Sign this petition to voice your support for designating the Mansion building as a historical site, ensuring it remains a vibrant hub for the arts and a cornerstone of Kingston's musical heritage. Together, we can save the Mansion and keep Kingston's music alive.
