Preserve The Legacy Of Pocono Palace ♥️

The Issue

On May 1st, 2024, the historic and beloved Poconos Palace resort officially closed its doors.

As the property prepares for an uncertain future, we wish to make it known to the new owners that the Pocono Palace is a cherished, significant piece of both Pennsylvanian and American history which has been enjoyed by both local and non-local residents for generations. We wish to see the resort re-opened and fully restored to its original retro glory in lieu of being demolished or turned into yet another major hotel chain or condo complex. We say: Long Live The Land Of Love!

Like the now-demolished Penn Hills Resort before it, the Pocono Palace has been offering guests one-of a-kind romantic getaways since the 1970s. As fans, supporters, and visitors to the Palace, we ask that its legacy be preserved, respected, and remembered as more than just another “tacky” footnote in the annals of Pocono’s history. The kitschy, old school charm of the Pocono Palace is a unique example of vintage Americana which is becoming increasingly difficult to find in a country obsessed with bland, architectural conformity. Indeed, many of the most popular and requested accommodations on sites like Airbnb and Vrbo are “weird” or “unique” properties like the Pocono Palace which offer guests a fun, photographable experience in addition to a place to stay.

If restoring or re-opening the Pocono Palace as is remains completely off the table for the new owners, we ask that they at least ensure some of the resort’s most iconic features (namely the champagne whirlpool tower and heart-shaped tubs) be preserved or donated to a museum or historical society so that the public can forever remember a time when the Poconos were “The Honeymoon Capital Of The World”
