Preserve the Legacy of Carnegie Science Center

Preserve the Legacy of Carnegie Science Center
The Issue
The Carnegie Science Center is an institution that has not just inspired me to pursue science and become who I am today. It has inspired thousands. The pride that I feel when I say Carnegie goes beyond words. Whether it be the museum, the Art Center, or the college, the Carnegie name has been a staple in Pittsburgh and in our hearts for generations. To take that away now and replace it with someone who just has a lot of money is ridiculous. Carnegie stood for something—education and learning. Kamin does not.
For over 30 years, the Carnegie Science Center has been a beacon of knowledge and discovery for people of all ages. This place of wonder has not only sparked curiosity in children but has also been a hub for learning and innovation for adults. We need to preserve its legacy and ensure it continues to serve its educational mission under its rightful name.
Changing the name of such an iconic establishment due to funding reasons undermines the historical significance and the educational values that Andrew Carnegie instilled. Carnegie was a pioneer in making education accessible to all, and his legacy should remain intact in institutions that continue to fulfill his vision.
Communities in Pittsburgh and around the world regard the Carnegie Science Center as a symbol of learning and excellence. The overwhelming support from local and international visitors highlights how much this name means to people who cherish education and knowledge.
Instead of replacing it, it's essential to invest in maintaining and enhancing the programs that align with Carnegie's vision. Let's explore alternative funding solutions that respect the legacy while still providing the necessary support.
Join us in our effort to protect the legacy of Andrew Carnegie and ensure that the Science Center, a jewel in Pittsburgh, remains with a name that resonates with its heritage and purpose. Sign this petition to voice the importance of preserving the Carnegie Science Center as it has always been. Uphold a legacy of learning, curiosity, and dedication to community values.
