The Issue

This petition is to force the animal rights activists and the United States Humane Society to help change the industry. not destroy and ignore the real source of the problem.

Since 1969, a cherished local pet store has been providing generations of families in Blaine, MN with wonderful and loving puppies. This store is more than just a business; it is an integral part of our community's history and culture. However, this beloved institution is now facing an imminent ban that threatens its very existence.

The proposed ban on pet stores selling animals sourced from breeders not only undermines the livelihood of this longstanding business but also deprives our community members of a trusted source for their pets. It's important to note that this store has always prioritized animal welfare and adhered strictly to humane practices.

In fact, according to the American Pet Products Association (APPA), responsible pet stores like ours play a crucial role in ensuring that puppies are bred under humane conditions and receive necessary veterinary care before they find their forever homes.

We understand the concerns about puppy mills and support efforts to eradicate them. However, banning responsible businesses like ours will not solve this problem but may inadvertently encourage underground breeding operations without any oversight.

Let us stand together as a community to preserve our last humane pet store. We urge local authorities to reconsider their decision and work towards regulations that ensure animal welfare without compromising local businesses' survival.

This petition is to force the animal rights activists and the United States Humane Society to help change the industry and not destroy and sweep the real problem under the rug.

All of us can agree, better regulation is needed, We cannot change when there is an imminent threat of being closed down, no responsible business owner would put forward the money and time hoping the animal rights activists leave us alone. the activists know this so they choose the easy path versus working together. They are missing the big picture and banning pet stores will create more hidden problems that you will not see.

Pet stores are making changes and want to change, however, no matter what we do for the better the United States Humane Society, the rescues and the activists just do not want us in business period.  It costs money and time to defend our purpose, This money and time could be used to implement change.  They do not care or see the devastation that will come with banning pet stores such as armed robbery, online scams, black market sales, increase in unregulated backyard breeding, fake paperwork, no recourse for the consumer.

The demand for puppies will never go away, consumers want what they want and will do whatever they can to obtain it. we are the low hanging fruit that consumers see, If pet stores are gone you will no longer see what is happening behind the scenes anymore. Pet stores are the gateway to improving and making this work for everyone. with proper regulation and enforcement we can do better.

Every industry has the good and the bad, even rescues are abusing animals, so they get a pass because there heart is in the right place? just google it and you will see the horrible things rescues agencies are doing. couple of things to look up: "lawyers in cages" this is a short video of where your donated funds are going. "Rescues buying puppy mill puppies". this is an article written by the Washington Post and it is on PETA's website.

Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving our town's heritage while promoting responsible pet ownership.
