Preserve the iconic Skyline Eagle sign

Preserve the iconic Skyline Eagle sign
The Issue
My journey with Skyline High School began long before my freshman son walked through its doors. I am not just a parent to a Skyline student; I am an advocate for the history and legacy that has shaped our community for decades. As a deeply involved parent with a new freshman and three other children who will one day attend Skyline, I feel an urgency to protect the symbols of our shared history. The Skyline Eagle sign isn't just an emblem for the school; it's a beacon of community pride, visible to all who pass by. It embodies the spirit and tradition of not just the school, but the entire Skyline community—past, present, and future.
For over forty years, this sign has welcomed students, families, and commuters, standing proudly as a symbol of our heritage and unity. However, as the new Skyline High School building nears completion, the plans glaringly omit the preservation of this historic sign. The sign is more than an aesthetic marker; it is a part of what ties the community together. Removing it would erase an essential chapter of our shared narrative. It is imperative for future generations to understand and appreciate the history that has led us to where we are today.
This petition calls on the decision-makers at Skyline High School and the district to halt any plans that do not include the sign's preservation. Alternative solutions, such as relocating it to an appropriate place on campus where it can continue to inspire and welcome, should be explored and implemented.
We urge all members of the Skyline community—students, alumni, parents, faculty, and concerned citizens—to join us in preserving the Skyline Eagle sign. By signing this petition, you express your commitment to honoring our shared past and safeguarding the symbols that unite us.
Please sign this petition to make your voice heard and help ensure that the history and unity symbolized by the Skyline Eagle sign continue to inspire generations to come.
