Preserve the Department of Education and Secure the Funding for College Students

The Issue

As a college student and a member of a community where education is treasured, I am deeply concerned with the future of the department of education. Many of my family members and friends are dedicated educators, passionately teaching children and making significant impacts in their lives. However, the looming threat of "Project2025" puts the Department of Education, our educators, and the students in an uncertain position.

The Department of Education does not only ensure the jobs of our beloved faculty members, but it also paves the way for low middle-income students, like myself, to continue our education. The financial funding we receive is not a privilege, but a right that enables us to learn and grow, preparing us for the future.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 50% of full-time, full-year undergraduate students had tuition, fees, room, and board expenses below $20,000 during 2017–18 (source: NCES). This is not a luxury, this is survival for many of us. Cutting back on these funds would mean depriving half of the student population of their right to affordable education. How about we make a change to save our grant programs, faculty, and student opportunities?!

We must not allow Project2025 to bring an end to the Department of Education and the financial aids that make education more accessible to low middle-income families. We ask for your support to keep the department, its members, and our education in place. Sign this petition to make your voice heard and fight for all students and educators across the nation!
