On August 28, 2023, the BYU-Hawaii Administration finally revealed its plans for the demolition of the McKay Complex. These plans were under a cloak of secrecy for nearly two years. Bits and pieces of information about this project were manipulated through its Press Releases, the BYU-Hawaii Alumni Facebook Page and group. Troll accounts, mother-in-laws, wives, and sovereignty supporters jumped into the mix. The Social Media manipulation is not a pono way to justify the agenda of removing the McKay Mosaic.

As suspected, the offensive David O. McKay Mosaic is removed. The Administration has been quoted through several sources as being offended by the "colonial" injustices displayed in the McKay Mosaic. They were offended by President McKay raising the American Flag. They were offended by the Pledge of Allegiance. They were offended by the children "forced" to salute the American Flag.They were offended by "White Men imperialism" that causes "generational trauma." They were offended because "Hawaii is not part of the USA".  (They forget it's not just about them.)

Laie is a very small town. Words get around. Private conversations are not so private. Actions are louder than words. The BYU-Hawaii Administration's sovereignty extremism is no secret on campus and in the community.

But its Press Releases continue to respond to questions of extreme politics as "We do not look “left” or “right” for direction. We look “up” and seek the will of God through His prophets." 

What can YOU do to let President Nelson know what's really happening at BYU-Hawaii?

Follow the Spirit as to how to proceed. President Nelson needs to know what's really going on at BYU-Hawaii in Laie. Something is very wrong. You have to take action immediately. The Administration is bulldozing this.
