Thank you to everyone who has signed the petition and to everyone who has put out a yard sign that has brought attention to this critical effort. Our second batch of signs arrived Friday, and we are working to get them out.
While there has been no updated proposal from the FiveStone Group, the developers of "Crestline Cottages," we in the neighborhood have used this time to get better organized, get to know one another and improve communications to respond to whatever that plan may be.
Who knew all it would take to bring us together was overwhelming opposition to a 55-unit high-density rental development and rezoning request in the heart of our neighborhood?
In addition to signing and sharing this petition, we need your help again. We are collecting data in a new survey. The survey, launched today, will give us essential information that we can share with the developers, our neighborhood association leadership, and zoning officials as we attempt to be proactive instead of reactive to the situation facing us and any future proposals that may come before us.
Please note that any contact information collected will only be shared with the neighborhood association if you opt-in using the question on the survey, which asks if you want us to share it with them. You can find the new survey at the top of our website www.PreserveCrestlinePark.com
In case you missed it: At the 10/24 Crestline Neighborhood Association meeting, a "Resolution to Preserve the Character and Current Single-Family Zoning of the Crestline Neighborhood" passed. The resolution was simply a more formal version of this petition. While it is a non-binding resolution, it was meant to be a formal mechanism to do two things: share our position with the developers, the city zoning advisory board, and the city council and allow us the opportunity to vote on the issue. We had 48 votes in favor and one vote opposed. The one opposed was one of the partners in the development who lives in the neighborhood.
Finally, I wanted to alert you of a change in leadership in the Crestline Neighborhood Association. Maria Norton has resigned from her position as President, and Todd Russell, who was voted in to fill the vacancy of Vice President at this month's meeting, will step in to replace her.
We thank Maria for her service; we know she could not have expected these proposed zoning changes & the swift and strong response from us all. We wish her the best in her new job and with her new move, and we look forward to working with Todd.
*Reminder - We do not receive donations made via this petition. If you have donated while signing, you may request a refund. A neighborhood foundation has been formed and will formally be announced and begin accepting donations in the coming days.*
