The Issue

We shouldn't be forced to limit our individuality. The new dress code policy threatens to stifle personal expression and individuality, two aspects that are crucial for a vibrant and engaging work environment. This step towards a more restrictive dress code is not just a simple policy shift, but a significant change that could detrimentally impact the morale and spirit of the workforce. Uniformity as a team is important- color palette is not. A sterile work environment should only be sought out for sanitary reasons- not in personality.  People want consistent quality, not consistent lack of expression. In 2025, people seek out and cherish diversity. Aiming to limit diversity is not a moral Peet's should be associated with, and not a moral that we as employees of Peet's signed on for.

Studies have shown that workplaces encouraging individuality and expression are more likely to see increased employee satisfaction and loyalty. According to a report by the Society for Human Resource Management, companies that celebrate diversity and personal expression have a 50% higher employee satisfaction rate. When employees are happy, it's easier to make customers happy.

We reject the new dress code policy rolling out on June 4th, 2025. Retaining the old dress code not only respects the individuality of employees but also preserves the welcoming and unique atmosphere everyone has come to love.

For over 50 years, Peet's goal has been to offer the best coffees & teas in the world, without compromise. Peet's knows that the secret to great coffee is the people who make it. Well, here we are, the people. And we're not compromising.
