I am a resident of the Stonechase neighborhood, and my backyard backs up against the new homes being built in our addition. What was once a peaceful, private space is now exposed due to the increased ground levels in the new area, risen over 4 feet from the original level. This significant change threatens our privacy and serenity. While we understand and welcome neighborhood development, we are concerned that it should not be at the expense of our cherished privacy.

There are many of us who share a similar situation. The current standard of our Homeowner's Association (HOA) requires the backsides of our fences to be only 6 feet. However, given this new development, this standard doesn't provide the requisite level of privacy anymore. We propose to the HOA that we be allowed to adjust our fence heights to between 8-10 feet depending on individual needs.

An increased fence height will ensure that the new homes won't be looking directly into our backyards, restoring the privacy we originally enjoyed. It's important to recognize that fences play a critical role not only in defining property lines but in maintaining privacy and peace of mind for homeowners (Cohen and Daily, 2015).

We request our HOA to consider this minor adjustment, which has a major impact on our lives. Maintaining the character and integrity of our neighborhood, while accommodating necessary changes is crucial for the welfare and satisfaction of all residents.
