15 Oct 2017
Well done everyone, we now have over 100 supporters! Thank you all for your support! Please continue to encourage others to sign this petition. The reasons for getting more signatures are twofold; 1. Even though the submission deadline has supposedly closed, there may still be opportunities to influence the course of the council's project. I am aiming to meet with Kevin Greene, the new Mayor of Georges River Council, to discuss the community's concerns about the proposed changes to Penshurst Park, soon. So I would like to present him with a substantial number of petition signatures to convince him of the importance of retaining natural grass on Penshurst Park, and ensuring the community will continue to have free access to adequate children's playground facilities on Penshurst Park. 2. In addition, DA2017/0354 is likely to go to the Sydney South Planning Panel fairly soon for a public meeting where the final decision on whether Stages 2 & 3 of the Penshurst Park Development Plan go ahead (there is no knowing when that meeting may happen - they'll just announce it when they're ready). I would like to present an objection speech at that meeting when it occurs, and I would like to be able to present the panel with even more signatures by then! So, lets aim for at least another 100 signatures! Please promote this petition as much as you can to others who feel similarly to you about green spaces and public parks. I have added more documents to the Facebook page and Wordpress blog to help you to explain the proposed plans for Penshurst Park to others who may be interested. https://www.facebook.com/groups/637707403052289/ https://penshurstpark.wordpress.com/ Thanks Again!
