We've just found out that the SYDNEY SOUTH PLANNING PANEL MEETING regarding Stages 2 & 3 of Penshurst Park's Masterplan will be on Wednesday 28th February!! http://www.planningpanels.nsw.gov.au/Meetings/tabid/82/ctl/view/JRPP_ID/3551/mid/460/a/1/language/en-AU/Default.aspx Has anyone received an email about this? Everyone who sent a submission about DA2017/0354 last year should have been notified by email as soon as the meeting was published online on 06-02-2018 (Tuesday last week)! I sent a submission but I have received no email about this meeting. It is now a week later (Monday 12-02-2018). The website says the meeting will be 3pm, Wednesday 28-02-2018 at the Hurstville Civic Centre, corner MacMahon Street and Dora Street, Hurstville NSW 1481. The PDF notice on the Planning Panels website says; "Relevant documents will be available on the Planning Panels website (www.planningpanels.nsw.gov.au) at least seven days before the meeting. "To register to speak at the meeting, please contact the Planning Panels Secretariat before 4pm on Monday, 26 February 2018 on 02 8217 2060 or email enquiry@planningpanels.nsw.gov.au "Any person may attend the meeting to observe." http://www.planningpanels.nsw.gov.au/DesktopModules/JRPP/getdocument.aspx?docid=26289 I've posted about this on Facebook, so see people's comments here; https://www.facebook.com/groups/637707403052289/permalink/955128584643501/ and here; https://www.facebook.com/groups/637707403052289/permalink/955362264620133/ When I looked further on the Planning Panels website I found the Planning Panels Operational Procedures. In that document, on p29 (11.4 Notice of meeting) it states that "Notice of a planning panel meeting is to be given by the secretariat at least 7 days before the meeting. Notice is provided to panel members, the general managers (or their nominee) of the councils in that region or district, every person who made a submission to the council (in the case of petitions, only the head petitioner) in respect of an item to be considered at the meeting and the applicants for those items. A notice is placed on the planning panel website and may be placed in the local newspaper." http://www.jrpp.nsw.gov.au/Portals/0/JRPP_Documents/Planning%20Panels%20Operational_Procedures_2016.pdf Considering the magnitude of DA2017/0354 this is simply not good enough. How can this be adequate notice when people are required to register to speak at the meeting by 26th February. That would give only five days between being notified and having to register, not to mention the impossibility of spreading the word to others who are interested in attending or speaking at the meeting! If local newspapers and general managers only get notification 7 days prior to the meeting, how can they send information on in a timely manner before the speaker registration closing date? I call on everyone to contact any or all of the following people and organisations NOW to urgently demand an extension of the Sydney South Planning Panel meeting date for DA2017/0354 from 28-02-2018 to at least another week, and ask that the Planning Panels immediately review and change the Planning Panels' Operational Procedures to require notification as soon as it is published on the website, and that this be at least three weeks prior to the meeting for any multi-million dollar determination meetings; Planning Panels Secretariat: 02 8217 2060 enquiry@planningpanels.nsw.gov.au 320 Pitt Street, Sydney NSW 2000 GPO Box 39, Sydney NSW 2001 Address your email "Attention To"; Chair: Helen Lochhead State Members: Bruce McDonald and Nicole Gurran More information about who is on the Planning Panels can be found here; http://www.planningpanels.nsw.gov.au/PlanningPanels/tabid/71/language/en-US/Default.aspx The council members of the Sydney South Planning Panel; Con Hindi: 0408 383 783 chindi@georgesriver.nsw.gov.au Nick Katris: 0419 402 191 nkatris@georgesriver.nsw.gov.au Leesha Payor: 0419 616 898 lpayor@georgesriver.nsw.gov.au You are also welcome to contact other Georges River Council councillors here; http://www.georgesriver.nsw.gov.au/Council/Councillor-Information Georges River Council; 9330 6400 (24 hours,7 days) mail@georgesriver.nsw.gov.au Also address your email to; Georges River Council's General Manager: Gail Connolly 9330 6256 gconnolly@georgesriver.nsw.gov.au More information here; http://www.georgesriver.nsw.gov.au/Council/About-Your-Council The St George and Sutherland Shire Leader; "Attention: Jim Gainsford" (02) 9588 8888 leadernews@fairfaxmedia.com.au I also urge EVERYONE to REGISTER TO SPEAK at the meeting on 28-02-2018. Every voice will make a difference to how the panel view this project. We may not be able to completely stop Stages 2 & 3 on Penshurst Park, but we CAN make sure that it delivers modifications to the plans that are better suited to local residents.
