Join the CB2 Landmarks call on July 21 at 6:30pm, do not let your voice go unheard!!!

Dear neighbors,

Thank you again for joining the 2,000+ residents who have signed the petition opposing the proposed Mission Building on the St. Luke’s Church campus and for signing up to attend the hearing on Monday, July 21. 

We have learned that the church would like the July 21 Monday meeting to be the only meeting where this topic is discussed at Community Board 2, and they are planning to avoid having to bring the mission building proposal to the human services committee of CB2. 

What you can do! 

Please continue to encourage friends and neighbors to join the zoom - the more people that join the greater impact we can have!

Below, find some updated talking points and questions to ask at the meeting. The goal is to continue the conversation AND get answers. We need strong voices!

1. Continue emphasizing the architectural inappropriateness of the current design
2. Push for preserving open space which benefits all in the community 
3. Mission building proposal MUST go before the Human services subcommittee of CB2; the landmarks subcommittee cannot be the only community forum where this is discussed - 2000+ people are opposed to this plan, how can they go unanswered 

Questions to ask: 
1. What due diligence has the church done on what programming is needed in the community today? 
2. What research have they done on what already exists? The Door, St. John’s Church, Common Pantry all already provide services 
3. What is the planned programming? 
4. Would the $11 million the church has raised to build the building be better used in existing programming rather than a building? They can collaborate with any of the above and really spend the money on what is needed 
5. Is this a Vanity Project for Mother Stacy? 

This is the time for us to ask the hard questions!
