THURSDAY, 6:30PM: CB2 FULL BOARD MEETING - YOUR ATTENDANCE NEEDED!!

Dear Friends and Neighbors, 

Well done! Our collective effort worked.

Thank you to everyone who showed up—both on Zoom and in person—at Monday’s CB2 Landmarks Committee meeting. Your presence and voices made a real difference.

Last night, the CB2 Landmarks Sub-Committee denied the church’s proposal—on architectural grounds alone and sent the design for revisions. That’s a major win and a direct result of your turnout, testimony, and persistence - but this is not the end.

Just as importantly, we cracked the door open on the larger conversation about health, human services, and the true community impact of this project. That discussion is now on the table—and it’s one the church would rather avoid.

Thursday night’s full CB2 Board meeting is critical. The church and its PR firm will be working hard to spin the narrative. We need to show that grassroots voices can’t be silenced and that this community still values its open space, safety, and integrity.

Topics to raise: neighborhood safety, open space, location on the block, building design, programming/use, mission creep, stewardship (will Mother Stacey remain for next ten to fifteen years), is this just a building seeking a mission?

Even just being present strengthens our case.  Keep those emojis flying on the screen and comments in the chats rolling in.  CB2 board members do take note.

We’ve proven that when neighbors stand together, we can shift the conversation. Let’s keep that momentum going and make sure this door, and this open space, remains open.
