Make Your Voice Heard: Oppose the St. Luke's Mission Building at Next Week's Landmarks Meeting!

Dear Neighbors,

Thank you for your incredible support and passionate voices this past July at both the CB2 Landmarks Committee and the full CB2 Board meetings against the proposed mission building of St. Luke’s Church. Your testimony, letters, and presence made a real impact — together, we successfully blocked St. Luke’s Church’s proposal at the community-board level.  But our work isn’t done!

St. Luke’s Church is now bypassing a second CB2 review and going directly to the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) for final approval of the Mission Building. This is the last public hearing and approval process before construction could move forward, and your participation matters more than ever.

Please plan to speak or attend the LPC hearing on Tuesday, October 28th. Bring your same arguments, passion, and commitment to preserving our neighborhood’s character, open space, and safety.

The presentation materials the church plans to show will be available at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22 at this link: https://www.nyc.gov/site/lpc/hearings/view-presentation-materials.page 

The hearing schedule will be published on Friday, October 24.

If you cannot attend the public hearing on the 28th, you can still make your voice heard by submitting written testimony. Testimony may be submitted:

Digitally via LPC’s online form or by emailing: testimony@lpc.nyc.gov

Deadlines:

Written testimony is accepted until 12 noon on Monday, October 27, the day before the hearing.
However, we strongly recommend submitting by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 24 so Commissioners can review your comments over the weekend.
Our collective effort stopped the project once — and we can do it again. Let’s make sure the LPC hears us loud and clear.
