The Issue

As residents, landowners, and concerned citizens of Monticello/Jasper County, Georgia, we are united in demanding  the Mayor DeAshley Thurman and the Monticello City Council members, permanently reject all future annexation and rezoning requests for the Mine Lake property, and abandon any efforts to draft ordinances that would permit data center operations within city limits.to the development of a heavy industrial data center campus on or near the Mine Lake property (8841 Hwy 11 S).

We’re demanding the Jasper County Board of Commissioners to utilize the current 6-month moratorium to draft and pass permanent, highly restrictive countywide protective laws. These must include severe caps on water consumption, strict decibel noise limits, and a total ban on data centers near residential or agricultural zones.

Our voices will not be silenced by non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) or corporate interests. We demand transparency, environmental protection, and a future for Jasper County that respects its people and its land.

Our rural community cannot sustain the massive, irreversible footprint of a hyperscale data center. We are signing this petition to demand that our local leaders protect Monticello/Jasper County from the threats to our local water, strain on our power grid, constant noise pollution, chemical exposure and fire risks, and most importantly the multitude of potential health hazards associated with these data centers.
