Preserve Lincoln Park's Natural Balance

Preserve Lincoln Park's Natural Balance
The Issue
We, concerned citizens of Seattle, WA, USA, urge Seattle Parks and Recreation to reconsider the proposed installation of a bench in Lincoln Park. While we understand the desire to enhance sitting opportunities for our community, we believe that these seats will have detrimental effects on both the wildlife and park-goers who cherish this natural oasis. We also inquire as to the lack of public notice and stakeholder involvement. No qualified environmental professional was consulted, and the bench is within/borders an Environmentally Critical Area as well as a Priority Species Habitat Area.
Even though there was a bench in this space before, the squirrels prefer to harass people in motion, as they're more likely to drop snacks. Additionally, fire ants and earwigs enjoy nesting in the holes left in the cement from the bench's removal. Replacing this bench would disrupt the fragile balance. We must preserve the cement slab!
