Preserve Lexington's Academic Excellence
The Issue
**Please read the entire petition before signing. As much as we appreciate the support from all over the world, if you are not a member of the community or local voter, please refrain from signing.
Due to planned cuts to education funding in the state of Ohio, the Lexington Local Schools are faced with a large operating deficit for the 2011-2012 school year. As such, the Board of Education is faced with difficult decisions about how to best allocate the district's remaining resources. Sacrifices will need to be made by the students of the district and their families; however, these sacrifices should not be in the areas of core curriculum and academics. There are many areas of the current budget that could be cut without eliminating these programs and faculty.
Tell the Board of Education that we as a community need our schools to continue to achieve at the high level they have been and that the way to do that is by prioritizing the use of funds for academics and core courses. Let them know that the Lexington community expects academics to be a cut of last resort, only eliminating them after all possible funded sports and extracurriculars have been cut.
