Preserve Full Programming of Play Pickleball in Huntersville

The Issue

As a dedicated player and a resident of Huntersville, NC or a surrounding town, I have experienced firsthand the transformative power of Play Pickleball's organized programming. Before the Town of Huntersville contracted with Play Pickleball, opportunities to play this engaging sport were few and far between. The logistics alone - finding at least three other players with matching skill levels, schedules and securing an open court - were often incredibly difficult.

Play Pickleball changed all that. Their structured programming offered guaranteed play time against players with similar skill levels, fostering both personal growth and community connection. But now, our beloved program is under threat as the Town plans to reduce the number of courts permitted next season.

This reduction not only threatens our ability to participate in leagues and organized events but also risks placing us on waitlists due to limited availability. This is a direct blow to the working community that needs structure and a guaranteed schedule to play the sport that we have come to know and love.

We urge the Town of Huntersville to reconsider this decision for those of us who have found joy, camaraderie, and physical fitness through structured pickleball play. By preserving full programming for Play Pickleball, we can ensure that everyone has equal access to this wonderful sport.

If this is reflective of your sentiments to have full access to Holbrook Park and play pickleball in a structured environment as you have been enjoying with Play Pickleball, please sign this petition.
