Preserve Franklin Square Movie Theatre and Transform it into a Cultural Hub
The Issue
The Franklin Square Movie Theatre has been an iconic landmark in our community for decades. The potential demolition threatens not only our local history but also an opportunity for cultural enrichment. We propose to save the theatre and repurposeit into a multifaceted center for art, education, and entertainment. This transformation can serve as a beacon of community engagement, providing workshops and performances that cater to diverse interests.
On Dec. 13 2024. The owner somehow overturned this landmarked building. They plan on knocking it down to put up a medical building. Also proposing to knock down synergy( woolworth building) for a parking lot.
I Think the town would benefit more of a space that would offer more to the community. I would like to hear your opinion. Would you rather the medical building or the Cultural center I am proposing ?
I would like to know if the community would be more interested in this than another medical building.
I have drawings for revamping inside as well as spreadsheet of events and costs.
According to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, repurposing historic buildings can contribute significantly to local economies by creating jobs and attracting tourists (source: National Trust for Historic Preservation). Moreover, studies show that exposure to arts education promotes self-directed learning and sharpens critical thinking skills (source: Americans for the Arts).
By signing this petition, you are advocating not just for preservation of our past but also investment in our future. Let's turn the Franklin Square Movie Theatre into a vibrant hub that fosters creativity, lifelong learning, andV communal unity. Please sign this petition today!
