Preserve Bedford Park for the community
The Issue
Bedford Park is a beautiful public green space which should be open to both the residents of Greenacres care home and the wider community.
The owners of Greenacres claim nobody wants to come to the park. The reality is many of us have been trying and have been met with excuses and ignored phone calls, a locked gate overgrown with brambles making us feel unwelcome. The tree lined walkway is now obstructed by rubbish and logs, and quite simply many people are not aware it exists due to years of it being quietly withdrawn from us.
If you would like to use this park as is your legal right, please sign this petition today. There is currently a planning application to change the legal agreement and a decision is due to be made on the 21st October 2026 so we must act fast.
We must show the council that we DO still care.
Previous owners of the adjacent care home have tried and failed to build housing on this green space and essentially take public land for personal profit. We oppose this natural space being built upon and urge the council to provide a written declaration of their intent to keep it undeveloped both now and in the future, for the benefit and enjoyment of us all.
Please make your voice heard today.
