One step closer to losing our tiny Brickell park

Allen Morris Park, our tiny and rare green space in Brickell with so many beautiful banyan trees, is once again under threat to be torn up. The zoning committee is moving to try to include in the “rapid transit zone,” which puts it one step closer to being redeveloped into another monster, luxury condo.

In January, I was told by Director of Parks and Rec Chris Evans there were no plans to change the park and we’d be informed. Once again, city residents are finding out about critical changes being made to public spaces through non-official means/hearsay because our public officials are keeping many of these developments under the table knowing they are not in the best interest of residents.

Please email our commissioners to voice your concern about losing our tiny green space. Allen Morris Park is not a perfect park but it should be invested in to make it a better space to enjoy our outdoors in our beautiful city rather than abandoning it and selling it out.
