On Tuesday, August 24, City Council will choose between two versions of a temporary moratorium on short-term vacation home rentals.
Option 1: A pause on all pending and future permits
Option 2: A pause on future permits only.
According to the latest statistics, 59% of current permits and 71% of pending permits are registered to addresses outside of 29 Palms. In 2020 Preserve29Palms advocated for an immediate moratorium on all pending and future permits until the current VHR code is modified to include limitations on VHRs and a BAN on CLUSTERING. FACT: If a moratorium is not enforced immediately, 52 pending permits will be approved.
