Just sent 2nd VHR permit appeal in two weeks to 29 Palms City Planning Commission. 6796 Pine Spring Ave, Twentynine Palms owned by David Rosenberg, and 6799 Ivanpah Ave, owned by Rey and Aaron Wong. Members of Preserve29Palms plan on attending the Tuesday, August 24th City Council meeting @ 29 Palms High School to speak in favor of an immediate moratorium, limits on VHRs, and a BAN on CLUSTERING. Preserve29Palms recommends the following limitations:
1.Vacation Home Rentals are fixed at five (5%) percent of the detached single-family residential dwellings.
2. Not more than 2 Vacation Home Rentals are allowed within a four (4) block radius and/ or a 500-1000 foot buffer around homes.
3. The City of Twentynine Palms set up a VHR hotline for complaints, keep an updated database of all complaints, and publish complaints on the city website.
4.Vacation Home Rentals shall be no less than two hundred fifty (250) feet from any other Vacation Home Rental.
5.Permits will not be renewed if two (2) or more complaints regarding the operation of the Vacation Home Rental are lodged within the term of the permit with either of Owner and/or Agent or, with notice to Owner and/or Agent, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office, code enforcement officers of the City of Twentynine Palms, or any other person or entity having jurisdiction over the Vacation Home Rental.
6. A moratorium on issuing new VHR permits until the issue of limitations has been decided and code modified.
7. VHR permits ARE NOT transferable.
8.Vacation Home Rental owners should be immediately removed from the City CouncilVHR Ad Hoc committee. Including VHR owners on the committee is a CONFLICT OF INTEREST!
