Preservation of Walden's Hornbill

The Issue

!! LET US WORK TOGETHER TO SAVE WALDEN'S HORNBILL !!

The threats to endangered species include habitat loss, genetic diversity loss, exploitation, and climate change. Walden's Hornbills are now considered an endangered species due to deforestation, hunting, and nest theft.

The last 15 years have been harsh on hornbills in the Philippines, with the Visayan Hornbills threatening 9 out of 11 species. There were seven (7) threats in 2004, and now there are nine (9). There are 55 recognized hornbill species worldwide, 32 in Asia, and 11 in the Philippines.

Walden's Hornbill inhabits logged areas and forests with an altitude range of 400 to 1,200 meters. It prefers areas with abundant fruit-bearing trees for feeding and nesting. Due to excessive logging and hunting, it has been added to the IUCN (International Union of Conservation of Nature) list of critically endangered species. This petition aims to protect Walden’s Hornbill from going completely extinct. To completely restore the population of Walden's Hornbills, the legal and illegal logging acts must be banned. This is to prevent deforestation because Walden's Hornbills reproduces very slowly and is unable to survive with the heavy logging of the rainforest.

Hornbills are the farmers of the forest. They are large, fruit-eating birds, critically endangered species living in the rainforests on the islands of Negros and Panay in the Philippines. Because of their ability to commute over long distances, they are of extreme importance for the dispersal of seeds and therefore for plant reproduction. The Visayan hornbill is particularly threatened, with an estimated wild population of 1,200, according to figures from the IUCN and U.K.-based BirdLife International. The Visayan hornbill is endangered due to severe deforestation in addition to hunting and nest poaching. Without them, it will be harder for us to do their job. Preservation of Philippine Endangered Animals Can prevent the bird from being endangered because they will provide protection to their special places for their safety, By signing this petition it will help not just the birds but also us since they are important for plant reproduction for all of us. Signing this petition increases the number of people who support the conservation of Walden's Hornbill. Saving Walden's Hornbill species from potential mass extinction, which could cause issues with the food cycle, is advantageous to both the ecosystem of the rainforests on the Philippine islands of Negros and Panay.
