I started working as a screening technician for Covid 19 at Miami Valley hospital in Dayton, OH in August. The job is temporary and pay decent with no benefits. I would say about 3 coworkers have came down with Covid 19 while working on the job as well as other coworkers being out and having to quarantine due to common colds, flu, etc. We are NOT getting any benefits for the work that we put in. Many of us (as well as myself) swab patients nostrils and come in contact with many people who end up testing positive for the virus. I feel like with us putting our lives and health on the line and being essential workers that we should at least get benefits for what we do. Or be compensated in some way. If we do ask about this, management says that it is a temporary job position and that we need to speak to Human Resources. We are out in the rain, cold, sunshine, wind, heat and soon to be snow. Five times out of the week. We are all human and still have lives that go on outside of that job and it’s not fair that if we catch the virus, we get absolutely nothing. If you guys can share our at least try to help us out, we would gladly appreciate it! The job may be temporary but Covid 19 won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. We get a high volume of patients on a daily!
