On December 20th 2021, The Prairie Du Pont Fire Protection District Board of Trustees,  appointed as Acting Fire Chief, Jerame Simmons Sr, a formerly convicted felon, who has only been with the Agency since August 26th 2021.  

This appointment is NOT legal as it does not follow 70 ILCS 705/16.04b which states a Fire Chief who is appointed even as Acting,  must have a minimum of 10 years experience in the fire protection district of the jurisdiction making appointment.  

Mr. Simmons was also convicted of arson in 1999 when we plead guilty and received probation.  

This creates another case where this appointment is illegal as it is contradicted by 70 ILCS 705/16.06

Being that the law has been broken directly by this appointment,  the resigned Majority former Fire Fighters, and public at large are begging that this reckless appointment is reversed.  

We are calling for the immediate reinstated status of Chief John H. Rosenkranz IV, until a time to truly discuss personnel matters is permitted.
