Practice Hours for Twin Hickory Swim Team

Practice Hours for Twin Hickory Swim Team
The Issue
Our family, like many others in Twin Hickory, understands the joy, camaraderie, and belonging that participating in the Twin Hickory swim team brings. Our own son has been a member of this team for the last two summers, and it has not only been a source of immense happiness for him, but also influenced his decision to pursue swimming year-round. This shared experience has enhanced our sense of community, bringing us together with our neighbors, and creating lifelong memories and friends.
However, the recent decision by the Twin Hickory Homeowner’s Association Board of Directors to restrict our children's swim team practices to morning hours, before the pool opens, threatens this cherished community tradition. The restriction strains many families in our community—be it working parents, those with children attending summer school, single-parent homes, or households with children participating in summer camps.
Twin Hickory is a community of thousands of families that could potentially face similar challenges. This decision robs our children of the life-changing experience of being a part of a swim team. It threatens the dreams of our children who, like our son, hope to pursue swimming further. We are not asking for unrestricted access, but for a consideration that allows for the diversity of families within our community.
Therefore we urge the Twin Hickory Homeowner’s Association Board of Directors to reconsider this decision and resume the afternoon practice hours (5-6 and 6-7) of the Twin Hickory Swim Team that have been an offering of the club. This schedule offering aligns with neighboring community swim teams like Wyndham, The Colonies, Fox Hall, and Wellesley to name a few. This will ensure that all our children can continue building their dreams, friendships, and a stronger and more united Twin Hickory community. Please sign this petition to show your support of a fair and convenient schedule for all the families in our community.
