Ysgol Dyffryn Trannon is currently a dual stream primary school offering education through the medium of Welsh and English.

Powys County Council want to change the language category to Welsh only due to the decline of children accessing the English stream.

This would mean taking away local families choice in accessing their local school forcing families to travel out of their community to access an English speaking provision.

There are a number of new houses that have been built and plans for further development  of the area. The school would not represent the diversity of the community.

This is an opportunity to raise the profile of the school and celebrate inclusive practice. Please show your support in maintaining the current system of a dual stream school for the children who already attend and those that are prospective to the school. Demonstrate the impact a change of language would have on the local community. Children and families need security, they need to be able to build relationships, to have their emotional health and well-being met. It has been a difficult year to navigate and the timing of the consultation takes advantage of these inequalities on the community.
