Powers Ferry United Methodist Church is set to close after Christmas this year. After 65 years in the community the church has decided to close due to low attendance and no other options offered. The North Georgia Methodist Conference will then change the locks and sell to the highest bidder. So many memories will be torn down and an amazing church family will no longer have their home. This church is a staple to the area and loosing it would be a disgrace. It is home to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, AA, NA, ESOL, YMCA preschool, and a Brazilian Ministry- as well as many other groups within the congregation such as a Women’s Circle that raises funds for many other charitable causes. Powers Ferry offers free vacation bible school, free Easter Egg hunt, and Trunk or Treat with a free hot dog dinner. When attendance was not so low, we had a Fall BBQ, pumpkin patch, and an amazing youth group that went as far as the Amazon River to share the gospel. Let’s rally behind this church and give it the support it needs. The North Georgia Methodist Conference is ready to profit off this church, let’s tell them this church and this church family matter and need to stay.
