Residents throughout Chatham-Kent are experiencing an unacceptable number of power interruptions.

For months—and in some areas, potentially years—residents have experienced frequent brief power outages and interruptions. While many of these outages may only last seconds or minutes, their impact is significant.

These repeated interruptions disrupt homes, businesses, work, communication, internet service, heating and cooling systems, and everyday activities that depend on reliable electricity.

Brief outages and repeated power fluctuations can also cause problems with sensitive electronic equipment and appliances. Residents should not have to constantly worry about computers, televisions, internet equipment, appliances, heating and cooling systems, or other electrical devices being affected by repeated interruptions.

This issue is especially concerning because many residents now work from home, rely on the internet for communication, and depend on reliable electricity for essential daily activities.

We are calling on Entegrus, Hydro One, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, and the appropriate provincial authorities to take this issue seriously.

We are asking for:

A full investigation into the repeated power interruptions affecting Chatham-Kent residents.
Clear public information identifying the cause of these frequent outages and which areas are affected.
A long-term plan to improve the reliability and stability of the electrical system.
Infrastructure improvements where necessary to prevent repeated interruptions.
Greater accountability and communication with residents regarding ongoing power reliability issues.
Residents of Chatham-Kent deserve a reliable electrical system.

We understand that major storms, accidents, and unforeseen equipment failures can cause occasional outages. However, repeated and frequent interruptions have become a serious concern for many residents.

Reliable electricity is no longer a luxury. It is essential to modern life, communication, work, education, safety, and the operation of our homes and businesses.
