Poverty in The Philippines

Poverty in The Philippines
The Issue

In the Philippines, poverty and inequality persist. Throughout the last four decades, the share of households living below the official poverty line has gradually and unevenly decreased. Economic growth has seen boom and bust cycles, and recent periods of moderate economic progress have had little influence on the poor. High disparity across income classes, regions, and industries, as well as uncontrolled population growth, are viewed as fundamental constraints to poverty reduction initiatives.
The following are the current causes of poverty in the Philippines:
1. Poverty levels are strongly linked to educational attainment
2. high levels of population growth
3. weakness in employment generation and the quality of jobs generated
4. high inflation during crisis periods
5. There is weak local government capacity for implementing poverty reduction programs
The following are the current solutions to poverty in the Philippines:
1. Give a mandatory proper education for people below 21 years old.
2. Teach the people of the family planning.
3. Lower the requirement of the job to apply.
4. Have a concrete plan that will cover up the inflation.
5. Replace corrupt officials that only think of themselves and not the people.
