Implement Outdoor Education in the Poudre School District

-Our purpose is to aid the school board in the enhancement of curriculum for its students and families across the district by providing an outdoor education program district wide.


-90% of students, specifically in urban areas, experience some form of Nature Deficit Disorder and will be put on medications to mitigate the issue.

- Richard Louv in his book Last Child in the Woods addresses Nature Deficit Disorder and the prevalence of allergies and chronic inflammatory diseases among urban populations in developed counties skyrocketing in recent years.

Who We Are

-We are a small group of Colorado State University Students that are looking to make improvements in our community.

-We have various experience in the subject and are looking to make a positive change in the education of young people aimed at environmental education and improving the health of future generations.

Background Information

-The Poudre School District (PSD) is in Larimer County in northern Colorado and enrolls 30,000 students as of 2017.

-PSD is one of the fastest growing districts in Northern Colorado, adding approximately 500 students a year as of 2016.

-PSD includes the public schools in the city of Fort Collins and the towns of Wellington, Timnath, and Windsor, as well as the unincorporated communities of Larimer County including Laporte and Livermore.


-To promote awareness of Nature Deficit Disorder (NDD)

-To help improve the health of the students as well as the health of the environment for generations to come


-Connect future generations to the environment through outdoor education
