This petition is directed at the ETB and their insurers IPB to postpone the felling of the beech tree on Compass Hill situated on the grounds of the Outdoor Education Centre in Kinsale. The felling was due to take place on Wednesday 8 February 2023 and has been postponed since this petition began.

By visual inspection this Beech (Fagus) is in good health and is not in imminent danger of falling. The recent tree survey used visual surveying only. Additional surveys of the tree's condition and position for  a risk management plan should be completed by reputable arborists as well as a Heritage/Tree Officer. This tree is valued as an iconic symbol by the people of Kinsale.
