Post Office HQ to Urgently address poor opening hours & service from Disley Post Office.

The Issue

We, the undersigned, petition the Post Office to urgently address the continuing range of serious concerns our community has raised about Disley Post Office for a number of months with no direct action to the serious concerns customers have raised.

Issues include branch regularly closed during advertised open hours, multiple notifications to customers stating, ‘closed system down’ and poor customer service as well as some serious issues and customer experiences and trading practices needing to be brought to the attention of the post office and  local authorities. The Post Office  response appears to be an unwillingness to address issues raised to reassure and regain trust within the community that use this as the only banking service facility available in the village.

Additional issues include local businesses having to travel miles to use other banking facilities due to the Post Office opening hours being so unreliable and the very serious issues that our tight knit community have been become aware of, create a fear, mistrust and a reticence amongst our older residents who have always seen it as a trusted brand in their community.

Disley is the home of Gold Medal winning Paralympian, Dame Sarah Storey and it's post office provides essential banking and services to our community as well as visitors to Lyme Park, The Rams Head and walkers and lovers of the Peak District since the closure of all banks in the village. As well as being a vital community hub for families, local businesses, village community groups and the older members of our community.

The false perception of low foot flow is purely due to the community and visitors to the village being unable to access the post office and the trust is damaged . The fear is, if the issues raised above are allowed to continue and not addressed immediately, this vital and valued service will be lost to the village and the many visitors it serves.

We require the Post Office to activate an urgent emergency investigation, and addressing our serious concerns  instead of circulating to  complainants a generic reply.
