Petitioning Portland Public School Board

Please continue the successful Tubman Young Women's Leadership Academy

The Harriet Tubman Leadership Academy for Young Women is Portland's only all-girl public college preparatory school, grades 6-12. It focuses on math and science. Its outcomes have been outstanding, but it is danger of being closed unless the Portland Public School Board is convinced parents city-wide will send their daughters there over the long term. One of the challenges has been getting the word out to prospective parents about how successful the program has been in developing math and science capabilities of these girls and young women.

If you are a parent of a young girl in Portland, or anticipate being a parent in the future, you can help send that message by signing this "Yes, I'd send my daughter there" petition.  In the comments section, if applicable, please indicate how long it will be before your daughter will be going into 6th grade so that the school board can get see what demand may look like in the future, and so that the PTA can keep you abreast of goings on at the school as you get closer to deciding on 6-12 grade schools.
