On November 19th, 2021, musician/performance artist Poppy launched her new metaverse online mobile game "Poppysphere."

This game includes a link to a marketplace titled "Poppy Vending, Inc." which sells NFTs, or "Non-Fungible Tokens." NFTs are essentially digital files such as videos and art pieces that are sold over the internet via the Blockchain in exchange for cryptocurrency and/or real money.

NFTs and cryptocurrency more often than not require the use of large, high end computers. These massive computers consume massive amounts of energy, which is taking a very heavy toll on Earth's climate. Many of these computers can consume as much electricity as a small country. Most of the electricity used for these computers is generated from fossil fuels and non-renewable energy sources.

Poppy has come out in the past to claim that she is an advocate for environmental protection and combatting climate change. The fact that she is selling NFTs goes directly against these claims.

If Poppy truly wants to be an environmental advocate and make the world a better place, then she needs to stop the production and distribution of NFTs, as well as actively speak out against them.

We ask that Poppy discotinue her line of NFTs, make a public statement admitting to and apologizing for her mistakes, and start publically renouncing NFTs and other forms of exchange via Blockchain.
