St. Thaddeus Church should have been open this fall! We could have been part of Open House/Chicago. This is an annual festival that celebrates the architecture and history of Chicago neighborhoods. Chicago Architecture Foundation organizes this exciting and enlightening festival. If we were open, we could have: • Celebrated our 58th year history as the third Catholic parish created by the Chicago African-American Community; • Shared the architecture of our church. Designed by an award winning architect, Edo Belli (Belli & Belli). He designed churches with its parishioners and pastor in mind. The spirit of St. Thaddeus founders is evident.; • Celebrated the history of the Lilydale (Roseland) Neighborhood. Lilydale includes Princeton Park and Lowden Homes. We hold a unique place in Chicago’s African-American history. • Welcomed the people of Chicago along with our family, friends and neighbors to our spiritual home. Our house should be open!
