There’s a first time for everything. Do you remember your first job?
St. Thaddeus was an economic engine for the Lilydale, Roseland and surrounding communities. One major way that St. Thaddeus Church supported the community was its summer jobs program. This program provided many of us with our first paid employment experience. This was a great economic opportunity for hundreds of parish and neighborhood teens.
Many teens experienced their first job working at St. Thaddeus Parish’s Day Camp. The jobs provided the first time employment, income, and a needed community resource. These jobs also served to prevent violence. We had every position from camp counselors, supervisors, landscapers, and janitors. To this day, people recount how important that first job was.
Many of the participants at St. Thaddeus’ Summer Day Camp have careers in variety of fields. The importance of a first job cannot be underestimated.
This past Wednesday, Amazon held a job fairs across the country. In Illinois, thousands applied for jobs.
A stable job with benefits helps support a healthy community.
St. Thaddeus Church was an economic engine in our community.
Please share your memories about your first summer job. Thank you.
