Stop development of Westridge in the Issaquah Highlands

The Issue

Polygon Homes purchased the vacant 63 acre plot of land and all entitlements north of NE Discovery Drive near the Swedish Hospital in the Issaquah Highlands.  Polygon is proposing to develop one of those entitlements directly west of Swedish, an 11.6 acre parcel that currently contains open green space, paved multi-use paths, and a storm water retention pond.  The planned development, called Westridge will eliminate all of the open space, path, and retention pond and be replaced with a highly dense grouping of over 70 single family homes with one access road.  This development would never have occurred had the original plan of Microsoft developing the original 63 acre parcel followed through because the subject 11.6 parcel adjacent to Swedish would have remained the existing open space with multi-use path and retention pond (which services the drainage for the 63 acre parcel).

The reason for this petition is to compile a list of those of you that would not be in favor of such a development and the loss a highly utilized outdoor area for many current and future Issaquah HIghlands residents.  That list will then be shared at the public hearing for the project to show objection.  The reason why a petition is being written against this particular project as opposed to other Highlands developments is that it will be building over existing, highly utilized infrastructure.  This is not vacant land being developed, this will be a lost resource that many people use on a daily basis.

I understand the probability of stopping this development is very small, but I would appreciate it if you sign the petition because the bigger the list, the bigger the impact we'll have at showing objection for this project during the public hearing.  Thank you for your time.
