Drop All Charges Against Glenisha Lewter

As a parent of 3 beautiful talented and intelligent children, I’ve tried my best to shelter my children from the corruption of this world and even tried to water down the systematic racism that I knew one day they will have to face! They have attended the best school polk county public schools can provide and even a private school! They have been apart of every elite extra curriculum activity from gymnasium, basketball, baseball, football and dance! They have even experienced colorism due to them being in honor classes and being apart of elite clubs! I thought I’ll never find myself in a position where any of my kids, due to their faith based upbringing, will have to face any type of injustice. Well, sad to say on April 22nd 2020, my oldest daughter had to experience this type of injustice!!!
I want to share her experience through the plea of someone she cares deeply for to the point her passion led her to be taised multiple times, handled inappropriately as she pleaded for medical care for a loved one life!!!! I couldn’t imagine how I could have responded in such a traumatic way to witness someone near death, but yet because of my distress couldn’t find any professional to help deescalate the situation, but instead escalated and heighten the emotions that led my 21 year old beautiful daughter spending the night in the county medical dormitory jail and 2 felony charges!!!!The message below was sent to Lutenuient Powers with the Frostproof Police Department and yet no response:

Good afternoon sir,

I know that this is long but please take the time to read it. My previous attempts to talk to someone have been ignored.
On April 22nd, 2020 I slipped on a bathmat and hit my head on the edge of the bathtub at my son’s house He rents the home from his uncle, Terry Ogburn. I was immediately unconscious and bleeding profusely. My son did his best to keep me awake and his girlfriend called 911. Everyone there was desperate, believing their loved one was dying or dead. When PCSO arrived, they tased and arrested my son’s girlfriend. Glenisha Lewter, my son’s girlfriend, had gone outside to help direct first responders (you’re supposed to do that right?). She was not calm as she hasn’t been trained in how to behave when your loved one is dying. Officer Wofford #7999, assuming he’s been trained in how to respond, should be the calming factor in these emergency situations. He was not! He was dismissive and more concerned with bringing Glenisha to heel. He commanded obedience and when he did not get it, he tased and arrested her. He was so eager to tase Glenisha that he carelessly also hit my son’s mother with his first attempt, she was an innocent bystander. Glenisha is now charged with two felonies! Seriously? When an officer finally made his way to the bathroom where my son was struggling to keep me alert, my son looked to him for help. His response was an irritated “What do you want me to do?”.
PCSO’s core values are Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, and Professionalism. None of these were on display that night by Officer Wofford. There were five officers there that night. Three of them displayed these core values but none of them had the courage to pull Officer Wofford aside and reason with him. Officer Wofford’s temperament seems better suited for corrections, maybe he should go back there.
I’m not trying to cause a stink or be overly dramatic, yet. I just wanted to talk to someone about how this incident could have been handled better and prevent issues like this in the future. I think that everyone would agree that this should have gone better. I’m not looking to blame PCSO 100% but they have some responsibility in this going sideways. For her part, Glenisha was tased and spent the night in jail. She didn’t even know if I was alive or dead. I think that’s more than enough punishment for acting desperate in a desperate situation. Has Officer Wofford had any correction?
I believe that someone should pull Officer Wofford aside and remind him that he is sometimes responding to help people in their most desperate time. That he should remember to show Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, and Professionalism. I believe any and all charges against Glenisha Lewter should be dropped and a formal apology should be sent to her.

My post:
When my father finally spoke to someone of authority, there statement was that Glenisha “had a plan, and she carried out that plan,” So there are two assumptions made, with that statement. The first is that Glenisha actually harmed anyone, which she did not. The second, is that she somehow strategically planned to beat up armed officers when they arrived to, what our knowledge would be, help. The blatant and purposeful ignorance is sickening. There was complete disregard for Glenisha’s pleas to come inside and help. Is it really up to the police to decide who does and does not deserve medical attention or any help at all? Do they have any medical or psychological training whatsoever? I thought that our police were meant to “Protect and Serve.” Instead, Officer Wofford and his partner literally held Glenisha hostage while simultaneously ignoring any medical attention my father needed. I was completely unaware of the situation outside and by the time paramedics even got to the house, Glenisha was in the back of the cop car begging to know if my father was okay. If I hadn’t have stopped the bleeding, if Glenisha hadn’t been so proactive getting 911 on the line, my father could have died. In a moment of desperation, it was us civilians who handled the original situation we called 911 for, while it was constantly made more difficult by Wofford and his partner. The cops told her/us nothing. They didn’t let us know how her vitals were after being taised, they didn’t give us any information on Glenisha or my dad other than the hospital my dad was going to. The last exchange between Wofford and I went like this,

Me: She was just trying to get y’all inside, she just wanted to help, she didn’t hurt anyone, please!!

Wofford: She ran up to me yelling, said it took 2 hours... *then after being taised* she was talking about how she taught dance to kids or something? Talking complete nonsense.

That’s what he had to say. He was treating her like she was insane. What Wofford and what so many other officers don’t understand is that sometimes people are trying to prove they are not a thug. Glenisha is not a thug. Glenisha is someone people trust with their children, she is someone people depend on, she was someone in dire need of help, and she was most certainly not a threat.
