Politicians Require Fiscal Accountability

The Issue

As American citizens, we face an alarming moment in our nation's history.

Our debts are soon to reach a critical mass,

actively closing in on an unprecedented total of *$T35,000,000,000,000

*(per usdebtclock.org as of 5/22/24, see below)

Hold on... it gets worse!

As we’ve let an eerie abundance of wealthy “representatives” have their way,

to remain with corrupt incentives towards taking responsibility and cutting spending,

we’ve ensured that our interest alone will surpass defense spending *this very year.

*(per usdebtclock.org as of 5/22/24, see below)

(Yes, the same defense spending that exceeds the next 9 countries combined.)

Don’t believe in corruption or incentives? Let’s play a game.

The number one issue faced by Americans today is the ever-increasing divide between the median individual’s income and the median price of housing.

Which do you think our “representatives” today most align with in response?

A. Policy to increase the supply of new and affordable housing
B. Policy to increase the demand of new and affordable housing

Choose wisely, you may not like the answer... (or even understand it at first)

This is political-doublespeak at its finest, let’s get a translation:

“I am proposing to, at the expense of the taxpayer,

provide $9600 for those seeking to buy their first home

or trade up for a little more space and thus directly subsidize demand in order to increase the cost of housing for the median family even further.

The median family deserves to pay even more so that the few who actually benefit can attribute it to my presidency, while the rest remain ignorant.

You might say:

But things like that never actually pass!

I can only reply:

“How do you think taxpayers funding student loans has worked so far?”

(The average student loan debt in 2023 was $38,290 or about 4X since 1993)

and “Why do you think the student loan crisis is being double-downed on now?”

Let’s skip the literal Ponzi-schemes of Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid.

Our government is on an unsustainable fiscal path,

threatening the very foundations of the American republic and even meritocracy itself.

We must acknowledge that our political system has allowed politicians to enrich themselves by indebting our nation.

We can choose to let our country (maybe deservingly) collapse under its own weight,

or we can come together to solve this for the better.

P.R.F.A outlines 8 concise principles we can use to reverse corrupt incentives,

because all politicians must be held fiscally accountable for their use of public policy in order to tangibly promote the public good.

I now invite you to review this petition and make your choice to join by adding your name to this cause.

Here Lies: The P.R.F.A. Petition, Parts 1-4

Part 1 | Tethered Income

Fair Compensation: Politicians' total income and benefits will be pegged to the median annual income of their constituents.

Salary Limit: Politicians' annual salary and benefits from elected duties will be capped at 50% of their *Fair Compensation, with an elimination to lifetime pay and benefits.

Consumption Cap: Politicians' annual market-valued consumption (excluding emergency medical care) will not exceed the median annual income of their constituents.

Gift Limit: Politicians may only accept market-valued gifts up to 5% of their *Salary Limit annually.

Part 2 | Public Service

Work Requirement: Politicians must work at least 50% of the hours worked by their median constituent (outside of their elected duties), engaging in tangible public work.

Part 3 | Asset Transparency

Investment Restrictions: Politicians may only invest in diversified American stock portfolios (e.g., S&P 500).

Asset Disclosure: Politicians will divest significant assets upon taking office, with excess amounts above their median constituent's asset value subject to a 100% tax. They will also absorb any change to this value at the end of their term.

Part 4 | Lifetime Accountability

Lifetime Obligation: Newly elected politicians must agree to adhere to these provisions for life, with non-compliance resulting in criminal prosecution.

Together, we can ensure that our politicians serve the people, not just their own interests. Add your name to demand fiscal accountability, transparency, and a government that truly represents the American people.
