The star on law enforcement badges symbolizes the 'runaway slave catcher' origins of the police.  This needs to change.  The star symbolism needs to be removed from all law enforcement badges and replaced with a new symbol that truly reflects their promise to protect and serve.   Symbols matter and law enforcement need something new, something that doesn't hark back to a racist history.  A change would show willing to move towards a new era of policing without bias.
