Olifantsfontein Police Station has not kept pace with the growth and expansion of Olifantsfontein and as a result they are understaffed and under-resourced to service Olifantsfontein adequately and crime in the Olifantsfontein area is on the increase. We are requesting plans to take steps to upgrade the police station and an investment in the resources to adequately service the growing Olifantsfontein community.

The police force servicing Tembisa and Olifantsfontein needs to be combined and strengthened to adequately handle theft and murder in area. Scrap yards in the area need to be investigated for trafficking in stolen goods.

The community has engaged with various structures in the police hierarchy with no success to date. Engagements have been documented since 2015 with no resolution in sight.

National intervention is needed.

This petition serves as a mandate from the Olifantsfontein community to remedy this situation and invest in effective policing in our neighbourhood. 

We are now escalating to you for resolution.
