Stop Monona PD from Hiring a Bad Officer

Stop Monona PD from Hiring a Bad Officer
The Issue
Note: The Officer's name has been removed due to a law firm connected to The Officer alleging that this petition is defamatory. We will not be silenced or intimidated.
According to news reports, The Officer has been the subject of multiple complaints for excessive and inappropriate use of force which should disqualify him from serving as a Monona police officer.
In one instance, The Officer allegedly shook a sleeping passenger by the neck to wake them up -- when another passenger protested, he dragged them out of the car, handcuffed them, and arrested them for resisting arrest.
According to news reports, in another instance, when a distressed mother was looking for her daughter, The Officer escalated a traffic stop, dragged the woman out of her car by her neck, and arrested her for resisting arrest.
Despite this clear history of inappropriate behavior, the Monona Police and Fire Commission voted to give him a conditional offer of employment.
Please sign and share this petition to stop this bad hire! The next Police and Fire Commission meeting is April 28, 2021 at 6:30 pm.
Also, tell the city directly that this is a bad idea!
