Greetings, 

We are qualified Medical Practitioners from Maharashtra State.

To practice Modern Medicine in Maharashtra, we have to enroll with Maharashtra Medical Council. As per MMC Act 1965, after every 5 years we have to renew our registration for which we have to pay Rs. 500/- as renewal fees. But now Maharashtra Medical Council making it mandatory to submit 30-CME Credit Hours Certificate. The Act DOES NOT have a CME clause and therefore CME cannot be insisted for renewal. MMC is linking it with Code of medical ethics, but that has nothing to do with renewal. 

Until the provision to link CME credits to Renewal is passed by Assembly and notified in Gazette, it is just a fancy idea by MMC, and not a Law.

Let's be very clear of these facts

1. Our registrations are regulated by the Maharashtra Medical Council Act 1965.
2. Maharashtra Medical Council CANNOT insist on anything that is not stayed in the Maharashtra Medical Council ACT.
3. There is no word CME anywhere in the MMC Act and therefore CME cannot be linked to renewals
