Lower the IHS fee on Visa Applications for Immigrants
The Issue
Being a British Citizen, I completely disagree with how the Government are running the Immigration system in this country. Also, bearing in mind that if it was not for immigrants this country would NOT be are near as financially stable as it is to this day and the furlough scheme will probably not be extended or even thought about. My partner has been in this country 8 years in February. I met him 4 years ago and went through his current application with him but didn't get too involved. This time, I am involved and I have seen through the cracks and finally see the issues with the Immigration system. An example and something I will expand below on is the sudden increase in the IHS fee (Immigration Health Surcharge). I disagree with the sudden increase in the charge, especially because there was no warning about it. It seems that there is only ever charge upon charge upon charge with these things and it's almost like you expect every immigrant that comes into the UK is rolling around in money. THAT IS NOT THE CASE! If anything, it is the other way around. Can someone please explain to me why the surcharge has gone up, also can someone explain to me why if an immigrant was to work, they also pay their national insurance and also when collecting medication or having an emergency treatment, they will have to pay? That being on top of the surcharge. When my partner applied 2.5 years ago, he made a payment of £500.00 for his IHS now this time he is paying £1,560.00...? Where has the increase in £1,060.00 come from? It was not until the other day that we actually noticed the increase in the charge and my partner now has to figure out how to gain that extra money for this application as well as live through another lockdown where we are all taking pay cuts and looking after family members and staying safe. It really does not seem fair to me and I am not even the one making the application. I want the Government and the Prime Minister to please consider that we are in the middle of a Global Pandemic. Yes, Global. Meaning worldwide. That also means that people are losing jobs and not getting as much money come in. My partner is on a zero-hour contract and not eligible for public funds. Not once during the pandemic did my partner get any support for funds and help with anything and I had to find a loop hole in the system for a fund that wasn't classed as a public fund. I had to search high and low for something that would not only support our family, but also allow us to keep a roof over our head and keep us fed and you would be shocked at the amount even if I told you. Please take this into consideration when immigrants are applying for UK Visa's ad appreciate that they want to be in the UK by choice, not by force. In fact, some by force as they have built a life here and wish to continue their lives here. I would also suggest to the Government and Prime Minister about making a payment system where people are able to pay for this monthly after paying for their application and of course being accepted. I know for a fact that this would make it easier and more inviting for people to enter this country and ensure that they are staying financially stable?
I would like someone to have a look at this monstrous fee and please tell me that something is being done about it as I am sure everyone can agree, it is a lot of money to gather in a short space of time.
