Maintain Hybrid Learning in the Plum Borough School District Until Spring 2021

The Issue

On Tuesday, November 17, the Plum Borough School Board will consider whether to move to five-day, in-person learning for students after Thanksgiving.

Without a doubt, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound effect on the way all of us live, work, and learn. While certainly not ideal, the hybrid learning model that the School Board and Administration put in place in September has kept students, teachers, staff, and families largely safe and healthy over the last several weeks. COVID-19 cases are surging dramatically both locally and statewide, a trend that is expected to continue throughout the winter months. In fact, there are more confirmed cases and hospitalizations now than in March, April, and May. By moving to five-day, in-person learning for all students, parents will loose the ability to send their children to school in an environment that allows for maximum social distancing. In light of the forgoing, now is not the time to make a change.

If you believe that the School Board and Administration should continue hybrid learning until at least the Spring of 2021, please sign this petition.
