URGENT PETITION

Plett River Water Crisis

FACT:

• Our economy and our lives rest on our rivers flowing
• Plett's rivers could dry up
• Not possible ?  It is possible and we would all suffer greatly

Water levels in the Bitou and Keurbooms Rivers are critically low.  We have had dry periods before and the rivers didn't look like this.

So what has changed?

• Weather patterns have changed over a period of time
• Farmers have been pumping unusually large and new amounts of water from these rivers
• Development applications are pouring in - thousands of new homes need water

We URGENTLY call on Water Affairs to stop this river carnage immediately

We URGENTLY call on Authorities to identify future water sources and / or water saving and harvesting strategies
