I write to you today to ask you to SUPPORT Senate Bill 1751 which would DECREASE energy prices for the people in Texas.  

The legislation would also cap the ability of one specific industry, Bitcoin miners, from EXPLOITING PROGRAMS MEANT FOR PRODUCTIVE, JOB-PROVIDING INDUSTRIES. Bitcoin miners are often chosen to fill this role simply because they PRODUCE NOTHING, AND PROVIDE NO SERVICES, SO THEIR COMPUTERS CAN POWER DOWN ON A DIME WITHOUT AFFECTING ANYONE'S LIVES WHATSOEVER. Their lower prices are ultimately USED TO GOUGE the people of Texas BY SELLING DEEPLY DISCOUNTED ENERGY BACK TO ERCOT AT UP TO 100 TIMES WHAT THEY PAID FOR IT. Voting for Senate Bill 1751 is voting for DECREASING power prices for the people of Texas. 

Bitcoin mining has NOT become a major job driver in Texas. OUT OF OVER FOURTEEN MILLION WORKING TEXANS, BITCOIN MINERS HAVE ONLY CREATED 2,000 FULL-TIME JOBS & ONLY 20,000 GIG/ CONTRACT JOBS. THAT'S LESS THAN ONE-HALF OF ONE PERCENT.

BUT THEY'VE INCREASED TEXAS ENERGY BILLS BY OVER A BILLION DOLLARS. Senate Bill 1751 would CLOSE LOOPHOLES FOR these NON- employers with TAXES BEING PAID to the communities in which they reside.  

Bitcoin mining has INCREASED energy prices and HASN'T SIGNIFICANTLY raised employment and local tax revenue in the state of Texas. This is because Texas has allowed MINERS TO EXTORT TEXANS, DESTABILIZE THE GRID & TAKE ADVANTAGE OF TAX INCENTIVES MEANT FOR TRULY PRODUCTIVE INDUSTRIES. Senate Bill 1751 would EASE THE FINANCIAL BURDENS OF TEXANS, PROTECT TAXPAYERS & ENERGY CONSUMERS, AND GENERATE REAL REVENUE.

I urge you to vote YES on Senate Bill 1751 when it reaches the Senate floor.
